All Allegany County Public Schools are operating on a normal schedule. 



 8 ACPS Students to Participate in All State Performing Organizations

The Maryland Music Educators' Association has recently announced that eight Allegany County students have been selected to participate in the annual All State performing organizations.

Representing Allegany County Public Schools in the All State Senior Mixed Chorus, which will perform at Morgan State University on March 1, 2009, in Baltimore, MD, are Emily Schadt of Allegany High School and Eric Harman and Drew Winters of Mountain Ridge High School.  The choral director at Allegany High School is Ms. Desiree Witt, and the choral director at Mountain Ridge High School is Ms. Michaela Linn.  Ms. Linn is also this year's Allegany County Teacher of the Year. 

Participating in the All State Women's Chorus, who will also perform at Morgan State University in Baltimore on March 1, 2009, are Shelby Herbert and Kathryn Kline of Mountain Ridge High School.

The All State Junior Chorus will be performing on March 7, 2009, in Frederick, MD.  Jonathan Cole of Washington Middle School has been selected to participate.  The choral director at Washington Middle School is Ms. Tracie Heavner.

Also performing at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD, on March 1, 2009, will be selected All State Senior Band student, Emily Kuhn of Allegany High School.  Casey Jones of Allegany High School will participate in the All State Orchestra on March 1, 2009, as a trombonist.  The band director at Allegany High School is Mr. Larry Jackson.
