All Allegany County Public Schools are operating on a normal schedule.

The Maryland Infants and Toddlers Program is a statewide program that provides many different types of early intervention services to infants and toddlers with special needs and their families. In Allegany County, the Allegany County Public Schools system is the lead agency responsible for the Early Intervention Program.

The mission of the Allegany County Public Schools Infants and Toddlers Program is to provide family centered early intervention services for children birth to three years with developmental delays, disabilities or special health needs.

Eligibility

To be eligible for our services a child must be between the ages of birth to three, reside in Allegany County and meet one of the following criteria:

  • Has a 25% or greater delay in any area of development;

  • Is developing in a way that is considered “atypical” for most children his or her age or;

  • Has a diagnosed condition that is likely to effect development

If you have concerns or questions about typical development in children from birth to age 3, please call us or review the Growth and Developmental Milestones brochure developed by the Maryland State Department of Education.

Referral

Anyone who is concerned about the development of a child can make a referral to the Infants and Toddlers Program.  Most children are referred by their families and pediatricians but referrals are also received by child care providers or concerned friends or neighbors.
