All County Choruses to Perform

Michelle Rafter, Jason McFeaters to Direct the Concerts

The 2012 All County Junior and Senior Choruses will be performing on Thursday, November 15, 2012, beginning at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Fort Hill High School. Admission is free and open to the public. This choral festival is the first in a series of festivals to be held during the 2012-2013 school year.

This year, guest conductor Michelle Rafter will lead the senior chorus consisting of an 80-voice choir representing the three county high schools. Rafter graduated from Fairchance-Georges Junior-Senior High School in 1985. She studied voice and received her degree from West Virginia University in 1989 where she graduated summa cum laude. She has served as an adjudicator, clinician, and guest conductor throughout the area and currently serves on the Festival Music Selection Committee with the Maryland Choral Educators Executive Board.

The senior chorus will perform the following selections: Break, Break, Break; Echo Song; Come Live with Me and Be My Love; Anyway; and Take Me to the Water.

Jason McFeaters will lead the 74-member junior chorus. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the Peabody Conservatory of the John’s Hopkins University and his Master’s Degree in Performance from the University of Michigan. McFeaters has performed as a soloist with the symphonies of Baltimore, Fairfax, Fort Collins, Gettysburg, Georgetown, the Peabody Wind Ensemble, and the Capital Winds.

The junior chorus will perform the following selections: For Good; Louisiana 1927; What a Wonderful World; Cantate Hodie; and Jabula Jesu.
