From the Desk of Mrs. Smith

March 2010

Dear Frost Students and Parents,

Dr. Nancy Grasmick, Maryland’s State Superintendent of Schools, requested each school to participate in the MARYLAND KIDS CARE CAMPAIGN: OPERATION HAITI. Frost elementary students did an awesome job collecting pennies for the earthquake victims. Frost school collected $1,287.65! The pennies we have collected will be a huge help to the people in Haiti. We would like the thank everyone who participated with this project. We are proud of our students and our community.

Frost Elementary School has been learning how high snow can be stacked! We certainly have had our share of the white stuff this winter. I would like to thank everyone for their patience with dealing with our snow banks. I realize this snow has made transportation a challenge for us all. We have been very fortunate to have great custodians, Paula, Bonnie and David. They have worked endlessly to keep our road and sidewalks as clear as the constant wind allowed. We have also been lucky to have had assistance from the maintenance department. Hopefully, spring weather will sneak in and this huge task will melt away. Thanks again for your cooperation.

Parents are encouraged to call the school to schedule a conference with their child’s teacher on Parent Conference Day which will be from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on February 10th. We hope parents come to discuss their child’s progress with the classroom teacher.

Congratulations go to 68 students in grades 3, 4, and 5 who made the Frost Elementary honor roll. Their names will be listed in the Cumberland Times newspaper. We are very proud of our students

We have 75 students participating in our Goodfinders’ Awards Program for the second nine week period. Congratulations boys and girls!

Please remember to schedule all dental and doctor appointments after testing. Thanks in advance to all those parents who rearranged appointment dates and vacation dates and times to insure the attendance of our third, fourth and fifth grade students during our statewide standardized testing, MSA.

If you know any youngster who will be attending Frost Elementary Pre-K , Kindergarten or 1st Grade next year please encourage his / her parent to come to school to register on March 25 or 26th. We need parents to register early. Additional staffing depends on our number of early registrants. More information can be found by visiting this link.
