BRODE History, Special Education Years of Teaching Experience: 14 Fort Hill Teacher since 1996 Email Room: 271	The Special Education department of Fort Hill High School centers upon the development of the whole child. It recognizes the significant contributions which the educational staff at Fort Hill and agencies in the community make in the growth and development of exceptional students and seeks to utilize the resources in overall educational planning. Its task is to provide a means whereby the students obtain the ability to think, to analyze, to interpret, and to reason. The specific goals for the program are to create a wholesome acceptance of the child's disability; promote an understanding of the many factors involved in physical, mental, emotional, and social development of the young person; provide an instructional program using numerous teaching methods; utilize special techniques in meeting the particular needs of the child; and provide guidance in the development of realistic goals for the future adjustment and employment of the student.
	Department Announcements
	November 12, 2009 the SLE classroom took 3,500 plastic bags to Martin's food store which we've collected through the course of the year. It takes at least 12,000 plastic bags to make a bench that can be donated through Martin's. Thanks to all of you for putting in the bags. We are also recycling plastic bottles.
