Induction Ceremony

Fort Hill High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society held its induction ceremony on November 23, 2009. Membership into the National Honor Society is based on the four qualities of leadership, scholarship, character, and service. Thirty-eight new members were welcomed into the prestigious group.
The ceremony was conducted by Jaclyn Wolf, president; Derek Deshaies, vice president; Kathryn Huber, treasurer; Alexis Stevens, secretary; and Julieanna Lehman, public relations officer.
As the ceremony began, William Evans sang the National Anthem, and Daniel Johnson followed with the pledge of allegiance. After a welcome from president Jaclyn Wolf, Mr. Robert James, the NHS head advisor, gave his congratulatory remarks to the new inductees. Following his remarks, guest speaker Dr. David Cox, superintendent of schools, spoke about what it takes to be in the National Honor Society. The NHS officers then elaborated on the core qualities of membership. After the induction of the new members, the annual lighting of the candles took place as the NHS pledge was recited. Closing remarks were made by Principal Steve Lewis.
The current members were also welcomed to attend the ceremony. These students, in addition to the officers, include: Benjamin Brown, Jessica Cessna, Jessica Currence, Andrew Doyle, Tasha Dunlap, Krystal Durst, Emily Eaton, Margaret Edmiston, William Evans, Brandon Foor, Hannah Graham, Ty Hemmis, Daniel Johnson, Timothy Kelly, Adria Lewis, Hillary Liedy, Chelsea Rankin, Samantha Shipway, Sam Walker, Zachary Watkins, Lindsey Waugaman and Sara Wolfe.
Co-advisor, Ms. Megan Morris stated, “Students chosen for membership in the National Honor Society are known for their integrity, diligence, and excellence in academic pursuits, in extra-curricular activities, and in their community endeavors.  These students are truly worthy of this distinct honor.  We look forward to welcoming these new members into the NHS here at Fort Hill.”
