Law Enforcement/Public Safety is an elective two-year program at the Center for Career and Technical Education (CCTE) which prepares students for careers in planning, managing, and providing legal, public safety, protective services and homeland security, including professional and technical support services. The program will cover the following pathways: correction services, emergency and fire management services, security and protective services, law enforcement services, and legal services. Students will participate in career development and work-based learning activities. The second year of the program qualifies the student for a Certificate of Merit credit. Seniors who have successfully completed all academic requirements except English IV may earn a certificate in one year by attending CCTE on a full-time schedule. Students have the opportunity to earn college credits at Allegany College of Maryland.

Interview with Instructor
Physician’s Clearance for Physical Training Contract with students, parent/guardian and teacher to abide by rules of program prior to attending classes at CCTE. One letter of recommendation from Law Enforcement, Corrections or Community Leader
Agreement to background check with no history of serious crimes, mental disorders or ongoing school related discipline issues.
Recommendations:
English C average or better
Math & Science C average or better
Attendance 95%
Maximum Suspensions in Grade 10, 2 ISS, 1 OSS
